Everyone Active and Sport For Confidence are working in collaboration to provide Occupational Therapy in community leisure centres. This approach centres and prioritises the needs of people and communities furthest away from physical activity and sport, recognising everyone has a right to experience movement.
This collaboration of partners, utilising the expertise of Occupational Therapists, the physical activity sector and individuals with lived experience is ideally suited to tackling inequalities and providing the best possible experiences for people and communities to take part in a way that is relevant and meaningful to people’s lives. Reimagining physical activity in local leisure centres and community spaces empowers people to overcome barriers that prevent them from doing the activities (or occupations) that matter to them.
In 2022, Sport for Confidence became a Sport England System Partner, which represents a strategic alignment with the overarching goals and initiatives outlined in Sport England’s ambitious 10-year strategy, “Uniting the Movement.” Sport for Confidence are proud to be part of the disability partners within Sport England, who are focused on empowering people with disabilities to access opportunities to be active. Data shows that disabled people are much more likely to be inactive than people without disabilities (Sport England 2024 ).
