Active Seniors

We all know that in order to lead a healthy lifestyle, you need to stay active and exercise regularly, but it’s not just a young person’s game. Whatever age you may be, it’s vital to stay active regularly in order to help ensure you stay both physically and mentally healthy. To help you find the right activity for you, we’ve put together a dedicated active seniors programme.

As such, we at Everyone Active offer activities aimed specifically at those among you who are slightly older or have certain requirements from an exercise class that the rest of our portfolio doesn’t necessarily cover. These activities aren’t based on your age, it’s all about how you feel and if a slower paced or more social session is more beneficial to your goals.

The Benefits of Staying Active as you get Older

Staying active as you get a little older is a vital part of staying healthy – both physically and mentally. Of course, we all know that physical exercise will reduce your chances of contracting conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, colon cancer and osteoporosis (brittle bone disease) but the mental benefits of being active and socialising with likeminded people is also a much-needed benefit.

Not only is exercise proven to help reduce stress and anxiety, but it can also help reduce the risk of getting dementia or Alzheimer’s disease in the first place, as well as helping to slow its advance should it ever become an issue.

Physical activity is especially important for those living with Parkinson’s; the more active people with Parkinson’s are, the easier it is to live well and manage the complexities of the condition.  Found out more about our partnership with Parkinson’s UK here.

Which Activities are Available?

Get involved and join in with any of the activities we have At our centres, but there are also a number of different senior specific activities and classes available to choose from. So whether you prefer swimming, exercising in the gym taking a class, or playing a sport we have something for you. Remember if there is something you would like to try that we don’t provide please let us know.

The activities available include walking sports – such as football, netball, basketball and hockey – seated exercise and social activities including table tennis and badminton, with an emphasis on social interaction, rather than winning the game.
