Watford Active Wellbeing Suite provides a social, non-intimidating environment that allows people to exercise at an intensity that is suitable for their health needs. To ensure exclusivity, we offer a separate membership from the main gym.
The functional fitness area in Watford Active Wellbeing Suite is designed to complement the power assisted exercise machines in a way that allows people to build upon their strength and fitness which has been achieved using the machines alone.
As people improve their fitness, strength, mobility and joint stability through the use of the power assisted exercise machines they are able to progress to the functional area. This area focuses on balance, stability, coordination, proprioception and controlled movement which allows people to gain confidence and reduce their risk of falling.
This is achieved through one-to-one sessions with the instructor or through one of the small group classes such as Otago (for fall prevention), Power-Tone, Balance and Pure Stretch. Bosu balls, medicine balls, light hand weights and stability boards are also used here to challenge people as they improve. In addition to the functional area we also have a Hand Bike and a Seated Bike which adds a cardiovascular element to people’s overall fitness.

We will be providing instruction, supported low impact exercise programmes and specific circuit pre-defined 30 minute classes for older adults that are new to exercise.
