The St Albans Arts Team organises events and community engagement activities in partnership with St Albans City & District Council and a wide range of other partners including statutory bodies and community organisations.
The Team manage regular street events and projects as well as providing programming and support for large scale events such as Alban Street Festival, St Albans Food & Drink Festival and St Albans Christmas Cracker.
Arts on Prescription offers 9 week courses in different art forms, for St Albans District residents aged 18+ with mild to moderate mental health issues, such as stress, anxiety or depression.
Growing academic evidence shows that participating in an art form can positively impact wellbeing, from the enjoyment of trying something new, to developing skills and confidence in a friendly and supportive group. Our sessions emphasise relaxation whilst encouraging creative self-expression. Previous art forms include art, creative writing and photography.
Referrals can be made through GP’s, support workers and other charities such as the Harpenden Trust (Wellbeing Hub), Mind in Mid Herts and the CAB. People can also self-refer by contacting [email protected]
We are currently running art courses funded by the Harpenden Trust for Harpenden residents at the Eric Morcambe Centre. We are seeking funding for further courses, for wider St Albans District residents for later this year, please use the email above to join our waiting list for further updates.
