Fareham Leisure Centre Health and Wellbeing Programme

Everyone Active’s Health and Wellbeing programme at Fareham Leisure Centre provides an opportunity for people to access a high-quality supervised exercise programme to meet the Exercise Referral Standard. The aim is to improve participants’ health and wellbeing by encouraging long-term participation in physical activity. It targets people who suffer from or are at risk of developing chronic medical conditions and provides support to patients whose health could benefit from a more active lifestyle.
Exercise Referral StandardWe will offer a wide range of specialised activities to cater for all health conditions. Your Exercise Professional will be able to design a programme that takes all your needs into consideration. Within our health and wellbeing programme, we will also be delivering specialist classes for the following conditions: pulmonary, neurological, musculoskeletal and falls prevention.

WHICH HEALTH CONDITIONS DOES THE PROGRAMME COVER?

The Health and Wellbeing programme covers a huge variety of health conditions. These include neurological, musculoskeletal, pulmonary, arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity, as well as depression, anxiety and a range of other conditions.

WHAT DOES THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING PROGRAMME INVOLVE?

We provide support, advice, and encouragement from our fully-qualified Exercise Professionals. They will design and guide you through your own personal exercise plan depending upon your medical conditions and abilities.

Activities may include:

  • Gym-based exercise*
  • Group fitness classes*
  • Swimming*
  • Water based activities e.g. Aqua Fit*
*Participation in activities are dependent on your medical condition(s)

WHAT DO WE DO?

  • We provide support, advice, and encouragement from our fully-qualified Exercise Professional
  • Exercises will be prescribed in an exercise programme to assist with your current condition
  • We offer specialised exercise classes
  • We will support you in improving your general well-being and increase your physical activity levels
  • Introduce you to new friends

HOW CAN I JOIN THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING PROGRAMME?

You can be referred by a health professional such as a GP/ Practice Nurse/ Physiotherapist.

WHAT IF I HAVE NOT EXERCISED BEFORE?

Our Exercise Professional will design and guide you through your own personal exercise plan. All you require is comfortable clothing, training shoes and a bottle of water.

HOW LONG DO I NEED TO ATTEND?

We encourage all participants to take part in a minimum of one session a week. The programme will run between 8 and 48 weeks, depending on your condition.
